The operation

Prestige Taxis Crewe operates from Crewe and Nantwich but sells nationally: airport transfers to Manchester, Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham and Liverpool, cruise-terminal transfers to Southampton, Liverpool and Dover, and long-distance travel UK-wide, 24 hours a day.

Long-distance work is a different business from local taxi work, and the difference is capital. A single Crewe-to-Southampton run commits a vehicle and a driver for the better part of a day. Price it wrong and the job loses money; take the booking without confirming availability and you have double-committed the only car that could do it. The margin lives in scheduling accuracy, not in volume.

The service specification reflects a journey that lasts hours rather than minutes — free Wi-Fi, charging ports, bottled water, a multimedia system, and complimentary snacks on journeys over two hours. Every one of those is a promise attached to a specific booking, which means the job record has to carry more than a pickup and a destination.

What TBMS provides

Fixed pricing with no hidden charges is quoted up front on long-distance and cruise-port work, so a nine-hour round trip is costed before it is accepted rather than reconciled afterwards. Pre-booked jobs hold the vehicle and driver against the schedule, which is what prevents the double-commitment that costs a firm this size a day's revenue.

Because the operation is pre-booked rather than on-demand, capacity is visible ahead of time — the site currently shows slots filled to a stated date, which is only possible when forward bookings are tracked properly rather than kept in a diary.

Airport and cruise terminal jobs run with meet-and-greet on the job record, and the in-vehicle service specification travels with the booking so the driver knows what has been promised for that particular journey. Phone and WhatsApp bookings land in the same system, so the channel the customer prefers does not fragment the job list.
